Early Sunday morning, Seattle police responded to a disturbance report involving possible gunfire at an apartment on 10th Avenue and East Terrace Street. According to the SPD Blotter, the officers conducted a community caretaking check, entering an apartment unit without finding anyone inside or evidence of injuries. A later follow-up at the scene led to the discovery of a shell casing in the hallway and an encounter with a male and female who had returned to the unit and were uncooperative, claiming there had been no shooting. The male was booked on an unrelated felony warrant.
The police were also called to the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) at 509 3 Ave due to an incident where a suspect, who appeared to be either high or in crisis, forced his way in and threatened a staff member. “The victim was able to separate himself from the suspect,” as reported by the SPD Blotter. Firefighters present because of an unrelated medical matter intervened when the suspect approached them, unwittingly entering the altercation and causing the suspect to fall and sustain a minor injury. Police arrived shortly and took the suspect into custody without further incident, and all firefighters involved declined to pursue charges.
Another incident noted by the SPD Blotter involved an encounter where a victim was accosted by a mother and son duo, who requested to use the victim’s phone. When the victim later declined, the son confronted the victim with threats of violence, followed by derogatory remarks regarding the victim’s gender identity. The situation escalated into a verbal assault, with the suspect disrespecting the victim’s transition, saying, “You’re not a woman you’re still a man, I’ll beat your ass,” and “I’ll kill you.” Despite being intimidated, the victim defended their identity and warned the suspect of legal repercussions, to which the suspect allegedly replied, “I respected the surgery but not you.”…
