Judge dismisses case against woman accused of murdering friend in Belltown alley

SEATTLE — A King County judge has dismissed first-degree murder and assault charges against a Seattle woman who was accused of shooting her friend to death and threatening bystanders during a violent Belltown altercation in 2024.

Rickesha Denise Overton, 34, had been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree assault after the Mar. 3, 2024, shooting death of 20-year-old Alisia M. Decoteau outside an apartment building in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood.

Prosecutors alleged that Overton marched Decoteau down a stairwell at gunpoint and shot her multiple times in the alleyway behind 2510 Western Ave., including a final shot to the back of the head…
