A 42-year-old woman from Kirkland, Washington, was arrested on November 4, 2025. She is suspected of First Degree Manslaughter in connection with the death of her 10-year-old daughter. The Kirkland Police Department began investigating the case in July 2025 after a referral from Child Protective Services. The mother brought her daughter, who had Type 1 diabetes, to a hospital in Tacoma after the child had died.
Detectives worked with medical professionals and the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office. They determined the child died from prolonged diabetic ketoacidosis.
