Bellevue Approves New Five-Year Sustainability Plan to Reach Carbon Neutrality

The City of Bellevue has adopted its 2026-2030 Sustainable Bellevue Plan. The City Council approved the plan after more than a year of community engagement and planning. The five-year strategy aims to help Bellevue reach carbon neutrality by 2050. The city also plans for its municipal operations to be carbon neutral by 2040.

The plan focuses on climate change mitigation, energy efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable mobility, and protecting natural systems. It includes 41 strategies to lower greenhouse gas emissions, increase the city’s tree canopy, and improve access to sustainable transportation.
