EDMONDS, Wash. — Edmonds police issued a holiday warning for families after an elderly woman was knocked to the ground and robbed of her jewelry in the parking lot of a WinCo grocery store.
Police said a group of suspects approached the woman during Black Friday, using distraction and deception — according to police — before forcibly taking her jewelry and fleeing in an SUV.
Acting Assistant Chief Josh McClure said by phone Saturday investigators believe organized groups have been targeting older adults who shop alone and may be wearing visible jewelry.
