New WA bill proposes payroll tax to collect $2B a year from Amazon, Microsoft, others

SEATTLE — A new state bill, modeled after a payroll tax in Seattle, is set to be introduced in Olympia and aims to collect more than $2 billion a year from the likes of Amazon and Microsoft.

State Rep. Shaun Scott (D), Seattle, will formally unveil the proposal on the Capitol steps on Tuesday.
