BOTHELL, Wash. — The Singh family had made the drive between Chelan and Bothell many times before. On Tuesday, just minutes after leaving Leavenworth, that familiar route became the backdrop to a terrifying collision they never saw coming.
Baljit Singh, his wife, their three children and the children’s grandmother were heading west on U.S. 2 when a boulder broke loose from the hillside and crashed into the passenger side of their SUV. The rock was roughly the size of a small car. Singh said the impact pushed the vehicle toward oncoming traffic.
“It was less than two seconds. My truck started sliding into oncoming traffic, and I just tried to keep control,” Singh recalled…
