Cedar River surpasses record flood levels as Renton community rallies to protect homes

RENTON, Wash. — The rush is on to protect homes in parts of Renton, where, on Thursday afternoon, the Cedar River surpassed record flood levels.

The Renton Regional Fire Authority reports the water levels from Renton to the Landsburg Road Southeast area are expected to stay high through Saturday.

The rushing water has spilled into backyards in the Maplewood neighborhood, and piles of sandbags are keeping it from getting much worse, for now…
