WASHINGTON STATE — Sound Transit’s board all but ruled out an idea to eliminate a second transit tunnel to complete voter-approved ST3, after a report suggested it would stop service through the city for at least two years, close down 3rd, and further delay completion of the project.
It was an idea that was seen as a hail mary as Sound Transit stares down a $34 billion shortfall, and questions are already being raised about dramatically altering the extensions promised to voters. It also sets the stage for a fight between leaders in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.
