Friend remembers mom as devoted caregiver; investigators test fingerprints and look for gun residue

MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — As investigators continue working to determine what happened in a case that left four members of one family dead in Issaquah and Mercer Island, a close friend of one of the victims came forward Wednesday to share memories she says reflect a different side of the family story than court records alone.

Melinda Moss, who said she became friends with Danielle and Nick Cuvillier about four years ago, described a mother who devoted much of her life to caring for her adult son, a man with disabilities who required assistance with nearly every aspect of daily living.

“She built her whole life around him,” Moss said. “Everything she did was for him.”…
