Armed Man Arrested Near Seattle’s Space Needle During New Year’s Eve Celebration

A Seattle man armed with multiple firearms and ammunition was arrested during New Year’s Eve celebrations near the Space Needle, police said.

The Seattle Police Department said that at around 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 31, patrol officers responded to reports of a man holding a “partially concealed” shotgun while sitting on a bench near the Pacific Science Center. Witnesses reported the suspect was “holding the gun by the grip” while facing a crowd of spectators gathered to view fireworks.

The suspect, described as a 21-year-old man wearing all black clothing and a red hat with “WAR” printed on it, was arrested without incident and cooperated with officers, police said…
