Long road ahead: 2 of 4 lanes of NB I-5 over Ship Canal Bridge now closed for most of year

SEATTLE — Seattle drivers are bracing for significant traffic disruptions as the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) launches its largest preservation project ever, part of “Revive I-5” on the Ship Canal Bridge.

As of Monday, two of the four northbound Interstate 5 lanes will be closed until June, with a brief pause for the FIFA World Cup. The closures will resume in July, affecting the remaining lanes until the end of 2026.
