Federal Way man sentenced for violent kidnapping linked to drug deal gone wrong

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A 25-year-old Federal Way man was sentenced to eight years in prison for a gunpoint kidnapping carried out as revenge for a drug deal gone wrong.

Daniel Lopez was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Seattle for using a gun during a violent crime stemming from the Oct. 13, 2024, abduction of an Auburn woman from her home, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington.

Prosecutors said the kidnapping was retaliation after a drug transaction collapsed. Lopez had given $2,500 to the woman’s husband and another person for cocaine that was never delivered…
