Amazon layoffs set to hit Washington corporate workforce hard as AI reliance grows

SEATTLE — Amazon is set to implement a significant workforce reduction in Washington state, affecting 2,198 employees across various locations.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the Washington State Employment Security Department, the permanent layoffs are expected to begin on April 28, 2026.
