3-store Seattle retailer closing after nearly 40 years

SEATTLE — Kasala Modern Home Furnishings here began a going-out-of-business sale on Feb. 6.

The three-store retailer, which has locations in Bellevue, Seattle and Tukwila, got its start 39 years ago and specializes in modern styles. According to a letter posted on its Facebook page on Feb. 1, the store closures are due to retirement.

“For over 39 years, Kasala Modern Home Furnishings has been the premier independent furniture destination in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, with exceptional style, outstanding values and unique pieces you can’t find anywhere else,” the letter reads. “We have enjoyed serving our tens of thousands of customers over many decades. After much consideration, we have decided to close our three stores and retire from the furniture business to focus on other business and personal interests. So we would like to announce the start of our Great $5 Million Store Closing Sale at our three locations, to sell out our entire and complete stock to the bare walls as quickly as possible.”…
