Bremerton family recovering from fire that destroyed home, cars

It was just past 11 p.m., and Maria Morua woke up to the smell of smoke so thick that she felt like she couldn’t breathe.

Moments later she was jumping out of a window of her home, along with her husband and 3-year-old daughter, as firefighters were arriving at the scene in West Bremerton’s Rocky Point neighborhood. The Morua family had lost their home, cars and life savings before the sun came up.

The fire at Rocky Point Mobile Home Park on Jan. 29 is under investigation by the Kitsap County Fire Marshal, and the cause has not been announced. Although the family made it out of the trailer in time, the fire has displaced them and destroyed all of their belongings…
