High-Speed Pursuit Near Cle Elum Uncovers Suspected Drugs, Machine-Gun Devices, 3D-Printed Firearms

CLE ELUM – A high-speed pursuit that began in Chelan County and crossed into Kittitas County last week resulted in the arrest of a Renton man and the seizure of suspected illegal drugs and unlawfully possessed firearms, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 9:19 p.m. on Feb. 11 to the area of State Route 970 and U.S. Highway 97 after receiving information that a black Chevrolet Camaro had fled from deputies in Chelan County and could be headed into Kittitas County. Deputies, along with officers from Cle Elum and Roslyn, positioned along likely travel routes and prepared to deploy spike strips.

When the Camaro entered the area, deputies attempted a traffic stop. Authorities say the driver accelerated and fled at a high rate of speed. Spike strips were successfully deployed near the Interstate 90 entrance from SR-970, east of Cle Elum, disabling the vehicle a short distance later…
