Washington community discusses future of 53-year-old public golf course

EAST BREMERTON, Washington — It’s a rare sight to see a golf course’s parking lot completely full on a weeknight in winter.

But on Feb. 17, roughly 200 community members packed the Putter’s Restaurant & Lounge at Rolling Hills Golf Course to listen to Kitsap County officials outline the first steps of the course’s future and plans for new management.

Kitsap County Commissioner Katie Walters and county parks director Alex Wisniewski met alongside members of the Rolling Hills Golf Course oversight committee to listen to the community’s concerns and wishes for the course’s future. This marked one of the first steps in the county’s Request for Proposal (RFP) process, which outlines the project’s requirements and invites future vendors to submit deals to operate the course.

“Rolling Hills Golf Course is one of the jewels of Kitsap County,” Walters said. “Our intent is to keep this an affordable golf course.”…
