Ballard businesses report break-ins, costly damage as police data shows 73 burglaries so far in 2026

SEATTLE — At least five businesses in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood say they have been hit by break-ins or vandalism since the start of the year, leaving some owners frustrated and calling for more police presence.

From shattered storefront windows to a refrigeration unit ripped apart for copper, the damage has cost thousands — and in one case, tens of thousands of dollars.
