Heavy Snowstorm Warning Issued for 4 Counties in Washington

A powerful winter system is moving across the Cascade Mountains in Washington State, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a Winter Storm Warning affecting four counties and surrounding mountain areas.

Officials warn that heavy snowfall, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions could impact communities through Tuesday, with another potentially larger storm expected later in the week.

Heavy Snow and Strong Winds Expected

The National Weather Service said significant snowfall is already developing across the Cascade ranges of Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, and northern King counties. The current Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 a.m. PDT Tuesday, with forecasters predicting substantial snow accumulation.

Meteorologists expect an additional 6 to 12 inches of snow, bringing total snowfall between 12 and 18 inches in many mountain areas. Winds may also gust up to 35 mph, creating blowing snow and sharply reduced visibility.
