Man charged for murder of pregnant woman in Seattle found not guilty by insanity

SEATTLE — Nearly three years after the unprovoked murder of a beloved Belltown restaurant owner and her unborn daughter, the man responsible was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Cordell Goosby was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Eina Kwon and attempted first-degree murder for shooting her husband while they sat in a car in downtown Seattle in June 2023. Experts from both the defense and prosecution agreed to the plea on Friday.

If the prosecutors’ expert had a different opinion, they could have taken the case to a jury trial, according to the King County Prosecutor’s Office. However, the prosecutors’ expert came to the conclusion that Goosby was “insane at the time of the shooting.”…
