Man charged after allegedly trying to push stranger in front of train at Northgate station

SEATTLE — A 26-year-old man has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after prosecutors say he tried to push a stranger in front of an oncoming light rail train at North Seattle’s Northgate light rail station.

Elisio Melendez is accused of attacking a man on Mar. 19 at the Northgate light rail station, according to charging documents filed in King County Superior Court.

Prosecutors allege Melendez approached the victim from behind as a train entered the station and attempted to shove him onto the tracks…
