Snohomish County PUD invites community members to Hydropower Appreciation Day from 9 a.m.-noon May 15-16 at the Woods Creek Sustainability Center in Monroe. Attendees will receive a behind-the-scenes look at how the utility turns water into clean, renewable electricity.
According to a news release, the Woods Creek Sustainability Center includes a run-of-the-river hydroelectric project, food forest and Coho Falls. This site is typically closed to the public except for educational school trips. This once-a-year event gives any community member the opportunity to visit. Guests can also explore the PUD’s food forest, see the site’s weir and powerhouse, and hear about steps the utility takes to support fish habitat and protect river health.
