An Alabama woman who was eight months pregnant when she shot and killed another pregnant woman in front of her children has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Aaniyah Nowden, 24, received the sentence on Friday following her conviction for capital murder in the death of 36-year-old Justina Wallace. While prosecutors originally pursued the death penalty, the court ultimately handed down the life sentence instead.
The incident occurred on July 7, 2023, in Birmingham, Alabama. According to police reports, Wallace was at a residence on the 3200 Block of 17th Avenue North when Nowden approached her with a firearm. At the time of the confrontation, Wallace was several months pregnant and holding her toddler daughter, while two of her sons stood just feet away.
