Birmingham approves incentives for a Druid Hills redevelopment project

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — A long-vacant building in Birmingham’s Druid Hills could soon be transformed into a mixed-use development after city leaders approved financial incentives to support the project.

The Birmingham City Council approved a resolution Tuesday authorizing a project agreement between the city and Baldwin Properties LLC to redevelop the vacant structure at 1909 14th Ave. North.

Under the agreement, the city will provide a forgivable loan of up to $300,000 to support the redevelopment. The project is expected to include residential rental units and commercial space for neighborhood retailers and organizations that provide services and resources to the community…
