The Birmingham-based Housing Affordability Trust (HAT) approved $4.3 million in grants to nearly 40 organizations across Alabama. The 2026 funding round supports initiatives supporting:

HAT’s mission focuses on addressing multiple root causes of community instability. By funding a diverse mix of nonprofits, the trust aims to provide comprehensive support alongside transitional and permanent housing.

One recipient in this round of grants is Girls Inc. of Central Alabama, which provides academic support, mentorship and enrichment programs for young girls in the region.
