State agencies investigate Patton Creek fish kill after Vestavia Hills fire

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — State investigators are continuing to examine a substantial fish kill in Patton Creek that was reported after a commercial fire at Hollywood Outdoor Living in Vestavia Hills, and the ABC 33/40 I-Team has learned a final report is still being developed.

The fish kill was first reported by the Cahaba River Coalition, which said it documented dead fish along miles of Patton Creek in Vestavia Hills and Hoover. The organization believes runoff associated with the firefighting response likely contributed to the fish kill, though the official cause remains under investigation.
