Alleged human smuggler charged with kidnapping 13-year-old she met online in Moody

MOODY, Ala. (TRIBUNE) — A 46-year-old woman was arrested and has been charged with second-degree kidnapping after picking up a 13-year-old girl from a gas station in Moody and later being recovered during a traffic stop in Bessemer, according to the Moody Police Department.

Carmelita Arguijo was booked into the St. Clair County Jail Sept. 1 on a kidnapping charge and is being held on a $500,000 cash bond. Federal charges are expected as the investigation continues, according to officials.
