HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) – Residents of a Hoover apartment complex say they have been without water service for nearly two weeks after Central Alabama Water confirms they shut off the supply due to an outstanding debt owed by the complex.
Service at Lorna Place Apartments, located at 3400 Treeline Court, was disconnected on August 31 following what Central Alabama Water says are months of unpaid bills. Central Alabama Water told WBRC in a statement that it had previously reached a payment agreement with the complex’s management, but that the agreement had been breached.
The company stated that it followed proper procedures before shutting off the service and notified residents, the Jefferson County Department of Health, and the City of Hoover. CAW also reported that, after the initial disconnection, someone unauthorized turned the water back on, forcing the company to shut it off again.
The complex owes more than $75,000, according to Central Alabama Water.
