The six-vote annexation that nearly ended Homewood

Six votes to end a city.

In 1964, Homewood voters went to the polls to decide whether to dissolve their city into Birmingham. Annexation won by six votes.

Current Homewood Mayor Jennifer Andress points to the importance of voting.
