BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Birmingham Police Department has announced the arrest of a juvenile after a 15-year-old was killed over a week ago .
Birmingham teen killed in overnight shooting
According to BPD, a 13-year-old was arrested after detective obtained a petition for murder on the suspect. On Monday, a family member of the suspect turned him into the custody of the Jefferson County Youth Detention Center. The victim and suspects are cousins.
BPD said officers responded to reports of a person shot at a home on the 4200 block of 39th Avenue North around 12:16 a.m. Sunday. Officers arrived to Sanders suffering from a gunshot wound inside the home.
