TRUSSVILLE, Ala. ( WIAT ) – Traffic on a highly traveled road in Trussville is becoming frustrating for residents in the area.
Residents say traffic on North Chalkville Road can get backed up for a mile.
“We live approximately a quarter of a mile from the freeway and it’s taking me as much as 18 plus minutes to get to the freeway, with no wrecks and congestion of traffic,” Trussville resident Richard Epstein said.
Epstein believes a new hospital in Trussville will make things worse. He supports the idea of the new development but says traffic has to also be considered in growth.

“When a city grows, you’re going to have more people, you’re going to have more traffic and this is a very productive city,” Epstein said. “They are growing and growing which is really great but you need to look ahead about your traffic flow. Don’t worry about it later, do it now.”
Trussville Mayor Buddy Choat says two road widening projects for I-59 by Aldot and Jefferson County will help, adding another lane going toward the interstate.
