Birmingham nonprofit to host pancake breakfast fundraiser and supply drive

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Birmingham nonprofit is cooking up a sweet breakfast event for those who donate to help the homeless.

Urban Purpose is hosting “Stack the Compound,” a family-friendly pancake breakfast and supply drive for their day shelter. The event will be held on Feb. 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at their base at 1315 2nd Ave North.

Attendees will enjoy a stack of pancakes and other breakfast foods as they help “stack” the shelter with essential supplies to serve the homeless through the winter months.

Tickets still available for the Magic City Dessert Competition

Guests can donate on the Urban Purpose website , bring items from the online shopping list or donate at the door for entrance.

The organization hopes to help impact the lives of many homeless people in the city, particularly during the remaining winter months.

“We do everything possible to respond to the variety of challenges this population has,” Jim McFarland, Executive Director of Urban Purpose, stated in a press release. ”And when it comes to the winter cold, we’re really focused on keeping vulnerable people alive.”
