Center Point woman pleads guilty to falsifying tax documents, failing to file her own taxes

CENTER POINT, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Center Point woman pleaded guilty Thursday to felony charges after she helped Alabama taxpayers falsify tax returns and then failed to file her own tax returns, according to the Alabama Department of Revenue.

According to the plea agreement, between January 2019 and April 2022, Angela Jackson Patterson falsified or assisted in falsifying tax returns of 11 Alabama taxpayers for tax years 2019, 2020, and 2021. She did so in Center Point home by adding false business losses or adjustments to income that altered the taxpayer’s liability.

Additionally, Patterson failed to file her own tax returns for 2020 and 2021 and failed to report a “significant” amount of her income on her 2019 return. Then, in April 2020 and June 2021, Patterson claimed and received unemployment benefits for which she did not qualify.
