State Senator April Weaver plans to introduce a bill in this year’s legislature that will upgrade the penalties for falsely reporting a crime, or causing the transmission of a false report if the false report alleges imminent danger to a person or the public. It will take the charges from a Class A Misdemeanor to a Class C Felony. Weaver explains this means more jail time.
