One big name is currently inside Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama, the site of tonight’s WWE SmackDown show.
The latest episode of the blue brand is set to feature a face-to-face segment with the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and back-to-back Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes. WWE United States Champion Logan Paul will also be featured on the show.
There is also one name reportedly lingering backstage, although a planned TV appearance has not been confirmed.
PWInsider is reporting that CM Punk is backstage for tonight’s WWE SmackDown show. It was noted in the report that Punk has indeed undergone surgery after tearing his triceps at the Royal Rumble. Many believe the injury occurred when Punk took a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntrye.
Keep in mind, this does not confirm a CM Punk appearance on TV or even in front of the live crowd. He could simply be there to let his colleagues know all is well.
During the post-Royal Rumble edition of WWE Raw, an emotional Punk announced that he will be forced to miss WWE’s biggest PLE of the year due to the injury. He mentioned a close friend of his who is battling cancer, and said by comparison his torn triceps is nothing more than a “flesh wound.”
