Alabama music producer wins Grammy

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — What do Killer Mike, 21 Savage and Drake all have in common? They all have worked with music producer Luke Crowder.

Crowder won a Grammy for his work on rap artist Killer Mike’s album “Michael,” which was named best rap album. CBS 42 visited the Grammy award-winning producer Sunday at his studio in Homewood.

He has produced music for 20 years and tracks for artists such as Lecrae, Latto and Lil Wayne.

“Music was just one of those things where I said ‘If I can create something that somebody loves, then I want to be a part of that,’” Crowder said.

Crowder said his goal is to win more Grammys. He encourages those who have aspirations to have a music career to pursue their dreams.

“Make that step,” Crowder said. “No one else is going to make it for you, so make the step and enjoy the obstacles because there is something beautiful on the other side.”

Crowder sad hopes to one day work with artists such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Frankie Beverly.
