Just last Friday, commission president Jimmie Stephen’s released a statement. The Commission has been made aware of the lawsuit filed this morning by the City against Sheriff Pettway. The Commission was not provided a copy of the lawsuit prior to being filed, nor was the County provided a copy of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Sheriff and the City regarding the housing of City prisoners. The County is not a party to the lawsuit at this time.
