Jessica S. Smith, a content creator from Birmingham and founder of the podcast ‘Jess Ask,’ has been chosen by Emmy winner and social media influencer Tabitha Brown to join her on stage. Brown, a New York Times best-selling author, announced on January 16, 2024, that she was seeking a local content creator for her Birmingham book tour stop on February 3, 2024. Smith was chosen from over 17,000 nominations, despite having only 1,200 followers.

Brown’s book tour, ‘I Did A New Thing,’ will visit nine cities in 2024. The Birmingham event took place at the Lyric Theatre, where Brown discussed her new book and the importance of overcoming fear. Smith was selected to moderate the event, a decision Brown made after seeing Smith’s nomination.

Smith, 32, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity. During the event, both women shared messages of inspiration and empowerment. Brown commended Smith’s performance and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.

Smith’s collaboration with Brown, who has partnerships with companies like Target, Ulta, and McCormick Seasonings, has reportedly increased her confidence. In an interview with the City of Birmingham, Smith encouraged others to take risks despite fear.
