31 year old Tradarryl Rishad Boykins, is accused of injuring the wife of U.S. Senator Joe Manchin during a police chase in North Birmingham on January 29th. Officers was trying to pull over the suspect that was wanted on felony charges, according to the Homewood Police Department. During the pursuit they lost sight of the car, but later arrived at an intersection where they discovered that the suspect had crashed into another car. He was arrested and in custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
They were later notificed that one of the two victims in the vehicle was Gayle Manchin, the U.S. Senator Joe Manchin wife, and Guy Land. Two days later they announced that they were charging the suspect with two counts of felony assault, felony attempting to elude, felony certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, and a bail over two million, at $2,045,000.
Tradarryl Rishad Boykins lawyers, Attorneys Juandaylnn Givan and Reginald McDanie, filed a motion to get his bond reduced, saying that it is, “unreasonably high” due to the fact that it was set so high because of the U.S. Senators status, and not based on other similar cases, and situations, and was a violation of the his constitutional rights.”
