Birmingham VA to introduce new mobile medical unit

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Birmingham VA Health Care System has enhanced its health care delivery capabilities with the new Mobile Medical Unit.

The MMU will be debuted at a ceremony on Wednesday at 2415 7th Ave. S at 10 a.m. It will primarily deliver care that is specialized to assist veterans who are currently homeless or have difficulty getting care at a VA facility.

The MMU is specialized to meet the needs of veterans, particularly those with limited access to traditional healthcare services.

The vehicle is wheelchair accessible and offers storage space for medical equipment, a generator, a medical freezer and a lab section.
