Man shot in altercation with Shelby County deputies

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation after a police altercation left a man with non-life-threatening injuries Saturday morning.

According to SCSO, deputies arrived to Brandy Circle in Chelsea around 11:29 a.m. on reports of a domestic incident. While on the scene, deputies found an armed suspect. During a physical altercation, the suspect received a gunshot wound to the lower extremities

The suspect was transported to a Birmingham hospital and his injuries are non-life-threatening. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
