The Birmingham Police Department has worked with the U.S. Marshals Service this summer to target and arrest violent offenders. Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond said he reached out to the U.S. Marshals Service in April to discuss an initiative to cut down on crime during the summer months. Crime trends typically increase this time of year.
