JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Across the country, fire departments, much like police departments, are struggling with recruiting men and women to serve as first responders. The McAdory Area Fire District covers an area of 46 square miles. It’s a small department of just 36 people or 9 per shift.
