On July 21, 2017, Cook was found stabbed to death in her apartment in the 1300 block of 21st Street North by BPD officers. The agency reports that Stone was identified as a person of interest due to his romantic relationship with Cook, but he was not charged due to lack of evidence.

BPD detectives presented the updated case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday. Upon review, a warrant was issued for Stone’s arrest.

Stone is currently in custody at the Jefferson County Jail on unrelated violent charges.
