Samford University to help Gadsden State Community College transfer students

HOMEWOOD, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Samford University announced it is helping Gadsden State Community College transfer students earn bachelor’s degrees.

Samford stated that after a memorandum of understanding, Gadsden State students will receive guaranteed admission to Samford when they meet university requirements.

The partnership allows for Samford to accept credits from a student who completed a traditionally non-transferable technical degree at Gadsden State. It also opens up reverse transfer agreements that permits a student who transfers before graduation from Gadsden State to finish their associate degree at Samford.

“Higher education is all about serving the students today who will lead the achievements of tomorrow,” Samford University President Beck Taylor said in a statement. “This agreement reflects our commitment to educational excellence for students who begin their journey at Gadsden State and continue through Samford.”

Samford and Jefferson State Community College formalized an agreement in June. Under that arrangement, Samford accepted to introduce a “Jeff State Transfer Scholarship” that offers $2,000 for every 24 credit hours taken over three semesters to all admitted regular, full-time transfer students.
