BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Green balloons and tears filled North Birmingham Park Sunday afternoon as friends and family of Chaveda Willis gathered to honor her memory. September 4 will mark one year since the shooting outside Aria Restaurant and Lounge where Willis, 33, and Markiezia Atkins, 24, were caught in a crossfire of bullets that Birmingham Police say was a targeted attack. Both women, and one man, arrived at UAB hospital, where the shooters found them and again opened fire. Willis and Atkins died that night from their injuries. Three others were also injured in the shooting.
