Rick Burgess to start new solo radio show following end of ‘Rick & Bubba’

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Rick Burgess, one half of the popular “Rick & Bubba” radio show, will remain on the airwaves, starting a solo show that will debut next year.

Burgess, who has co-hosted the show with Bill “Bubba” Bussey since 1994, recently announced that starting on Jan. 6, he will debut the “Rick Burgess Show” on WZZK, which currently airs “Rik & Bubba.” The “Rick and Bubba Show” is expected to end by the of the year .

The “Rick Burgess Show” will air from 5 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday and is expected to run on all current stations and platforms the “Rick & Bubba Show” currently airs. Burgess stated the show will be added to several new markets, though he didn’t specify which ones.

Bussey is now assistant athletic director for broadcasting at Jacksonville State University .
