Birmingham nightclub’s business license revoked

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Birmingham City Council voted unanimously to revoke The Quest’s business license and all associated permits Tuesday.

The city has given Quest ownership time to develop and deliver safety plans to improve the situation at the club. According to city councilor J.T. Moore, the club is not meeting expectations.

“I believe that you all are very unserious about this situation right now,” Moore said. “I don’t think you all are taking this serious at all.”

The Birmingham nightclub came under scrutiny in May after two men died from a shooting that occurred inside the establishment . It was not the first violent act at The Quest in recent years.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald with the Birmingham Police Department said in May within the past three years, there was an off-duty Birmingham police officer who was shot at the nightclub . There was also a shooting over Labor Day weekend in 2022 where two people were shot, and one of them died . Another time, a Birmingham police officer was in a fight with a patron armed with a firearm at The Quest , causing a max emergency call on police radio.
