Huffman High School student arrested for allegedly threatening 2 Birmingham schools

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 14-year-old Huffman High School student was arrested after making threats toward two schools, according to the Birmingham Police Department.

BPD school resource officers became aware Tuesday of a social media threat to carry out a shooting at Huffman middle and high school. A 14-year-old Huffman High School student was later taken into custody at the school. The suspect confessed to making the online threats, Birmingham police stated.

The student was taken to the Jefferson County Youth Detention Center and charged with first-degree making a terrorist threat.
